A brief presentation of the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói:
The city of Rio de Janeiro is the capital of the state with the same name. Around the capital, there are other cities, forming the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Niterói is part of this region. Crossing the Rio-Niterói bridge over the Guanabara Bay, which has a total length of just over 13 km, the city of Niterói hosts the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), one of the 15 best universities in Latin America. Due to the great infrastructure of UFF contributed in Niterói, this city is also recognized as a University city.

Rio X Niteroi
Many University students and staff live in Rio and study/work in Niterói. There are buses that make the direct journey, called intercity buses, but there is also the option of connecting in different types of transport, such as the Ferries that connect the center of the two cities. This route can take from 40 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the chosen means of transport, the traffic and the places of origin and destination.
Rio is the state capital and one of the largest cities in Brazil. There are many attractions at different times, such as its large list of museums and famous tourist spots, mainly in the South and Center regions. The Porto Maravilha works were completed for the Olympics, an event that took place in the city in 2016, giving a different face to the port region of Rio. The city's nightlife is famous, especially in the Lapa region, which is located in the Center, and in the South Zone.
Niterói has the climate of a University city and many attractions, but it is a much smaller city compared to Rio. Its neighborhoods are close to each other, sometimes allowing walking. Even though it does not have the same number of attractions as the city of Rio de Janeiro, Niterói is known for its gastronomic itinerary and the natural charm of its beaches, in addition to having one of the most beautiful views in the State, which is the panoramic view of the main cards. postcards from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The displacement between the Center-South Zone axes can almost all be done using the subway.

Center / Gragoatá / Icaraí and Ingá
Traveling between these neighborhoods can be done on foot or by bus. There is no subway in Niterói.
Time: if you are staying in one of these neighborhoods within the municipality of Niterói, travel time can be from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic.
